When most women get engaged, they are on cloud nine, glowing with love and the full knowledge that they are going to spend the rest of their life with the man who gives it to them. And of course, they can\u2019t wait to show off the symbol of their true love\u2019s devotion: the engagement ring<\/strong><\/a>. However, it can be truly annoying when a woman insists on flashing her blingy ring-finger for all the world to see, gushing about how lucky she is to anyone within earshot, and making her friends guess the number of carats (for the fourth time). You don\u2019t want to be \u201cthat girl\u201d. So if you simply can\u2019t seem to conceal your happiness, you need to follow a few guidelines for breaking the good news without going overboard.<\/p>\n

For starters, use modern technology to your advantage. When he pops the big question and you\u2019ve finally got that ring on your finger, take a quick pic with your smart phone and post an update on Facebook (or mail out a mass pix message). This way you can hit up everyone on your friend list at lightning speed and you won\u2019t find yourself continually wondering who you\u2019ve already informed and who hasn\u2019t gotten the news yet. If you show the same people over and over again, they\u2019re either going to think you\u2019re daffy or assume you\u2019re rubbing it in (especially your single girlfriends). Tell everyone at the same time and you won\u2019t have that problem.<\/p>\n

Next, wait for people to ask to see the ring. Don\u2019t worry, they\u2019ll ask. Every girl you know is going to want to get a gander at your ring (probably as a method of sizing up your potential mate). You won\u2019t have any shortage of requests to ogle and fondle your new piece of jewelry. And once you\u2019ve shown it, don\u2019t keep referring back to it or holding your hand in front of your face to gaze at it every five seconds throughout your conversation. Yes, you are obsessed. But consider that you have the rest of your life to look at engagement ring whereas the friend you\u2019re ignoring is about ready to ditch you for your rudeness.<\/p>\n

In short, this is not the one ring to rule them all. It\u2019s just YOUR ring and you probably have a lot more interest in it than anyone else. So gaze at it all you want when you\u2019re by yourself and show it off proudly when asked.
