Looks like this star of The Hills has decided to follow the reality TV trend set by the Kardashian sisters, since she was recently seen sporting a gorgeous rock from her boyfriend, Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler. It was anyone’s guess how her love life would progress after her ill-fated love triangle with boyfriend Stephen Colletti and best friend Lauren Conrad became cause for controversy both on and off screen. But she has by and large left the pitfalls of reality TV behind, choosing instead to focus on her philanthropy; she’s been involved in the Until There’s a Cure campaign for HIV and AIDS awareness, the We Are Ellis Island restoration campaign, the NOH8 Campaign to stop the passing of California’s Prop. 8, and PETA. And now, it appears that everything is falling into place for the bubbly blond, who has a lot to be happy about.
Now for the good stuff: the ring! She showed up at her gym in Los Angeles last week waving around a square (Asscher-cut) engagement ring that she brought back from a magical trip to Cabo with her beefy beau. The center stone is estimated to be a whopping 3 carats (and experts say this cut requires a nearly flawless stone to begin with), while the smaller embellishment stones on the band amount to an additional 1.5 carats. And the reported value of this heavy ring is more than most of us make in a year at an approximate value of $125,000. But it looks like Jay can afford it (since his contract with the Bears netted him a cool $30 million) and with a girlfriend from Laguna Hills, he’d better get used to buying expensive bling!
There are as yet no details on the impending nuptials. Like many modern starlets, Cavallari chose Twitter as the forum to relate the good news, apparently thanking fans for support after tweeting, “I can finally tell everyone that IM ENGAGED!!!!!!” This came just a few short months after she announced via Twitter that she was in love with Cutler. The only question that remains is where the happy couple will choose to coexist. Will he crash at her pad in Cali in the off-season? Or will she buck up and move to freezing-cold Chicago? Let’s just say her ring will make a better showpiece in sunny southern California.
